Are you curious about how Friends of Deckers Creek monitors stream health? Interested in seeing if you would like to sign up to become a citizen scientist with FODC? Are you a student looking to get some practical experience?
FODC will host two hands-on Stream Monitoring Workshops at the Arthurdale Heritage Center on Wednesdays June 5th and 26th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Each workshop will show citizens how we monitor stream quality and discuss issues facing the watershed. Participants will have the opportunity to use water quality monitoring probes and sample benthic macroinvertebrates in Kanes Creek, a tributary to Deckers that runs through Arthurdale. We will also discuss future projects, volunteer opportunities, and future citizen scientist workshops with individuals interested in learning more about their watershed and what they can do to protect it.
Most appropriate for ages 12 and up. Participants should come prepared to hike to and wade in the stream.
This event is free, but does require registration through Eventbrite. Please click this link to register.
