Job Announcement

Executive Director

Friends of Deckers Creek (FODC), a nonprofit watershed group based in Morgantown, West Virginia, is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to become part of a transformational team.  FODC is searching for an Executive Director to provide leadership for the Operations Manager, VISTAs, Board members, interns, and volunteers.  The successful candidate will be responsible for championing all aspects of the organization, including the identification, management, funding and execution of water remediation and other environmental projects, educational outreach, publication/content creation and oversight, administration, fundraising, special events, and operations.  The Executive Director will also establish, manage, and grow key relationships with community leaders and organizations, donors, federal, state, and local funding and regulatory agencies.  The successful candidate will deliver a skill set necessary to propel FODC into the future and invest the time needed to accomplish our mission.

 

Qualifications:  Environmental, or watershed management, higher education, and strong project management skill set required.  A related Master’s degree is preferred but a Bachelor’s degree may be considered.  Demonstratable knowledge of acid mine drainage remediation systems and/or water treatment systems preferred.  Demonstrated supervisory experience strongly preferred.  High level organizational skills, ability to appropriately prioritize and manage multiple projects and superior written and communication skills needed.  Leadership, team building, public speaking and presenting, and nonprofit management experience desired.  Willingness to take on diverse tasks in a small organization; a flexible schedule, including local travel, evening and weekend work; a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift up to 45 pounds are required.
